St Peter’s goes purple for World Prematurity Day

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) team at St Peter’s Hospital, Chertsey, were out in force on Friday 15 November, raising awareness of World Prematurity Day, and fundraising for the dedicated NICU Charity, Little Roo.

The team held a fantastic cake sale in the main reception of the hospital which was popular with staff and visitors alike. Sid Hurry, Little Roo Charity Coordinator said: “We are raising awareness of World Prematurity Day on 17 November and raising funds for our Little Roo charity by baking cakes”.

It is estimated that one in every 13 babies is born before 37 weeks in the UK and last Friday staff, babies, parents and even the building at St Peter’s went purple – the colour of prematurity – as a striking reminder of the impact it has on families when babies are born too soon.

If you are thinking of organising a fundraising event, or perhaps looking for a charity to support at work or at school, then please call Sid Hurry on 01932 722386.
