A grateful father raises funds for our Neonatal Unit

Matthew Rickett presented a cheque for £1,572.00, donated through the Little Roo Neonatal fund, to staff at Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals for the Neonatal Unit on 13th September.

Two members of staff, Sue White (Neonatal Community Sister) and Maria Beal (Clinical Practice Educator/Sister) looked after Matthew’s son Henry when he was born twelve years ago. Matthew’s son Henry was born prematurely at St Peter’s Neonatal Unit in May 2006. He is 12 now and wants to be a scientist when he grows up.

Matthew works at Highfield Company, where staff get to nominate a charity to donate £1000 to once they hit their annual target, and double the amount raised of any personal fundraising they do.

Matthew said: “I’m delighted to be here today presenting this cheque. Through the Highfield Company incentive and my own fundraising page we raised £1,572.00 for Little Roo Neonatal Fund.”

One of the things Matthew did to raise funds was to shave his hair off. He said: “I’m shaving off the topknot after three years for Little Roo Neonatal Fund because I want to help families with premature babies.”
